STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Senator Catherine Miranda (LD-27) has been named the 2018 recipient of the St. Thomas More Society Award by the St. Thomas More Society of Phoenix in recognition of her commitment to our community during difficult times. The announcement was made by the Catholic Diocese during the Red Mass at St. Mary’s Basilica in downtown Phoenix on Tuesday.
The award is bestowed upon those who exemplify what St. Thomas More represented: standing up for what he believed.
Senator Miranda was presented with the 2018 St. Thomas More Society Award on Wednesday by Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted of the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, in the presence of the Archbishop of Milwaukee, Jerome Edward Listecki.
“It is with profound humility that I accept this award. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the St. Thomas More Society and the Diocese of Phoenix for such a high distinction. While awards are a great honor, merely the feeling of helping and making a difference in the lives of others is enough satisfaction for me. I have always considered it a privilege to fight for the rights of the members of our community and intend to continue doing so, in an official or personal capacity,” said Senator Miranda.
